WHAT

The 2012 AU Design Show is an exhibition of student work from the Graphic Design Department. Any student who has taken a design class at AU has the chance to submit work. The work is then judged by a panel of respected DC designers.

WHERE

The show takes place in the Katzen Art Center Rotunda at the very end of American University’s campus. There is parking underneath the building. The entrance to the garage is off Massachusetts Ave.

WHEN

The show will be up from March 26, 2012 to April 9, 2012. There will be an opening reception on April 2, 2012 from 7pm to 9pm.

AMERICAN UNIVERSITY’S
GRAPHIC DESIGN DEPARTMENT

The Graphic Design Program at American University engages students in applied creative projects focused on visual communications arts and design. Our courses cover design for mobile devices, interactive and web media, publications, visual branding, packaging and typography.

THIS YEAR'S JUDGES

Ian Hamilton

Ian Hamilton is an AU alum and currently works at ripe as senior designer and official web geek. He's judged the AU Design Show in previous years and is always excited to see the great work students are putting out. He congratulates all of the this year's entrants and looks forward to future competitions.

Carni Klirs

Carni Klirs, an American University Design Program alum, is currently working at Free Range in Dupont doing work with a social conscience. When he isn't pushing pixels, he spends his time rocking out with his local DC band Fell Types (yes, that's a typography reference).

Soung Wiser

Soung serves as an adjunct graphic design professor at American University, teaching classes in packaging design and typography. She is continuously reminded of how lucky she is to know what she wants to do, and to be doing it.
