LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT

THIS POSTER PROJECT WAS CREATED IN PRINT DESIGN AND THE COMPUTER SPRING '12

Poster for Eugene O'Neill's classic play, "Long Day's Journey Into Night." It is about a dysfunctional family struggling to trust each other and stay sober. The play includes themes of emptiness, addiction, and the mystery of what's happening upstairs, behind closed doors. The story is something of a downward spiral. The poster is a play on depth, distortion, and the difficulty of the climb. The vertical lines contrast the disorder and disorienting angles of the stairs. The art for the poster was created in Illustrator and was combined with the type and other graphic elements in InDesign. It is meant to intrigue viewers and make them want to go see the play, wondering what the story is behind the mysterious stairs. Using a minimal color palette and clean, geometric shapes, the design puts a modern spin on the 1956 play. It is meant to be a simple yet captivating solution to a very chaotic and dramatic play.
